The history of the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie is closely related to the history of the Basilica of Santa Eufemia. Indeed, not only do they share the same approximate location in Grado, both of them being situated in the historical center of the resort, but the construction works at the former started when the latter was completed. Furthermore, the same Bishop Elia was the one by order of whom the Basilica of Santa Eufemia was completed and Santa Maria delle Grazie was erected in 579.

The interior highlights of the basilica refer to the altar and to a wooden statue rendering Santa Maria delle Grazie. However, the interior of this place of worship is divided in three naves separated by several marble columns of notable aesthetic value.

Similar to the Basilica of Santa Eufemia, Santa Maria delle Grazie was erected on the site of a former Christian edifice said to date back to the beginning of the 5th century.
